  1. Head to your local farmer’s market and teach your children about fruit and vegetables.
  2. Set your little ones outside with some large pieces of white paper and crayons and draw what they see.
  3. Set your kids up with a bucket of water and paintbrushes and let them “paint” the fence, an outside wall of your house or the garden furniture.
  4. Go through old magazines, wrapping paper and gift bags. Cut out different pictures and make a collage.
  5. Organize an outdoor party with water games and carnival games (running through the sprinkler, water balloon fights, face painting, ring toss etc…)
  6. Pick your own berries, fruits, flowers, etc…
  7. Go to the drive-in.
  8. Go to a carnival or county fair. Eat cotton candy, fried dough or something really bad once this summer.
  9. See a performance whether it’s a show in the park or a touring show.
  10. Hold a Car Wash. Park your car in the driveway and let your child give it a good scrub with water and sponge or with the garden hose.
  11. Everyone loves sidewalk chalk. Use the glow-in-the-dark kind so you and your child can still see the fun from the window at night.
  12. Do Yard Work Together. Have a kid-size rake and a bubble-blowing lawn mower on hand.
  13. Turn the backyard into a carnival — set up a face painting area and games like ring toss.
