Back to School Tips

Summer is coming to an end and another school year is around the corner! We have some great tips to help you with this upcoming transition.

Introduce a school year bedtime

It’s important to start adjusting sleep schedules before the first day of school. Ease yourself and your children back into a routine by waking up earlier and closer to the school year wake up time. This helps the body adjust slowly and naturally while avoiding drastic changes.

Check school supplies

Use a checklist to see what supplies you have available from last year and what is needed this year. Check the dollar store for bargains and take advantage of back-to-school sales.

Keep lunch easy

Be realistic with your expectations and lunch plans. Be sure to create lunch ideas that are achievable and easy to prepare because believe it or not, you will be busy.

Don’t skip breakfast

We’ve all heard the saying “breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” Things will get busy in the mornings but be sure to eat a nutritious breakfast daily, this goes for parents and children. This will help put everyone in the right mood for learning and being productive.

Create labels

Label your child’s belongings before they head off to school. Help your child learn the concept of personal belongings and responsibility in taking care of their items. Label backpacks, coats, hats and and school supplies.

Enjoy the rest of your summer

Most important tip is to enjoy what’s left of your summer days with your child before another busy school year is underway!
