Fun Backyard Activities for Little Ones
While all the Canadian Parks are closed backyards are always available for some outdoors fun. Today we at Kinder Buddies put together some fun activities for families to enjoy out in the backyard.
Gardening
Spring is on the way and it is a great opportunity to start some gardening with the little ones. While you may need some supplies to be ordered like potting soil and possibly a gardening pot, for seeds you can head to your kitchen!
Plants that Grow Quickly:
- Potatoes
- Snap Peas
- Cherry Tomatoes
Scavenger Hunt
As spring arrives we are seeing a lot of new things, new animals, plants, and bugs. We suggested taking a camera out and taking pictures of some spring related things:
- 2 Birds
- 1 Squirrel
- 2 Bugs
- 1 Flower
- 2 Leaves

Washable Outdoor Paint
Have kids “Paint” outdoor items like fences and side walk with washable paint made out of Chalk.
Make Washable Paint out of Chalk
Grate washable Jumbo Chalk with a grater into a suitable “paint” container
Make sure to use a grater that you won’t be using for food in the future.
For each stick of Chalk add 1/2 cup of water
Depending on your chalk measurement the amount of water can change. Slowly add water until you get the main consistency you would like.
Messy Science Experiments
Some experiments are just too risky to have in the house. Head outside to preform some of these fun tried and true experiments.
