Easter Activities for Kids at Home

Easter Activities

It’s Easter this weekend as Ontario heads into another lockdown. It’s been a year of lockdowns, but it’s fun to preserve the magic of the holidays for the little ones. Today we discuss some fun Easter Activities to do at home!

Paint Some Easter Eggs

Start by hard boiling some eggs (to avoid mess) and then take time to sit down and decorate the eggs! You can paint them with a paintbrush or just add stickers. Leave them out on a nice dish for the weekend as decoration.

If you are willing to do something with more set up we love this guide on three different ways to dye Easter Eggs.

Do a Scavenger Hunt

When you think of Easter the one thing that always comes to mind is a scavenger hunt. Hunting around the house and backyard for eggs and treats. With the lock down happening so suddenly if you didn’t have time to get some plastic eggs consider hiding some of their favourite toys around the house instead.

If you’d like to do some outdoor activity instead you could do a Spring Scavenger hunt in the backyard. We have this fun Spring Scavenger Hunt Printable available for free.

Make Easter Cards for Friends and Family

Use craft supplies to create simple egg shaped cards out of construction paper. Have your family decorate the cards together to pass out to friends and family. Make some time on the weekend to drop the cards off and have a safe socially distanced meet up through the windows.

Feeling especially crafty? We love this list of fun homemade Easter Cards from Red Ted Art.

Start some Gardening

Easter is a time of rebirth and fertility making it a great time for gardening. While it may be a few weeks early yet to get the garden tilled outside, it’s a great time to plant seedlings inside. Consider having the whole family pitch in and start growing a plant indoors. Some quick growing plants that are great for toddlers include cherry tomatoes and snap peas.

Starting the garden inside will allow your little one to watch the plant grow up close before it needs to be planted outside. For more tips on how to get started check out our Gardening with Kids blog.

We at Kinder Buddies Oakvile Childcare Centre wish all of our families and happy safe long weekend!
