Holiday Events in the GTA 2021

It’s that time of year again and as things continue to open up in the GTA, it’s exciting to consider going to the Santa Clause Parade once again! Hot cocoa, Christmas Trees, and even an appearance from the man in red himself, Santa Clause Parades have been a tradition in many homes for decades. Today we give you all the details for the local Santa Clause Parades and Christmas Events happening in the GTA and specifically the Halton region!

Do note that many of these events may require vaccination or masks to attend!

Toronto Santa Clause Parade

  • When: December 4th at 7pm ET
  • Where: Your Home on CTV
  • Cost: Free

In order to keep everyone safe, the Toronto Santa Clause Parade is trying something a little different this year: It’s all going to be broadcast only. CTV and CTV2 will be broadcasting the event live featuring all your favourite floats and characters. While not a traditional experience, watching from home gives you the best views as you snuggle up warm with your family and some shortbread.


Milton Santa Clause Parade

  • When: Sunday November 21st 2021 at 1:30pm
  • Where: Main Street Milton from Whitmer St. to Milton Go
  • Cost: Free

If your family loves the atmosphere of a live in-person Santa Clause Parade your only option in the GTA is the Milton Santa Clause Parade. The Milton Santa Clause Parade is as traditional as it gets with entertainers and floats going down Main Street. Make sure to bundle up and enjoy the event!


Distillery Winter Village

  • Where: Distillery District, 55 Mill Street, Toronto
  • Cost: $8 Per Person (ages 6+) During Peak Hours, Free on Off Hours

The biggest and most traditional Christmas Market is back in the Distillery District of Toronto. Expect food, artisan vendors, entertainers, and plenty of art displays at this beautiful location downtown. There is a cost for peak times so make sure to book tickets in advance for weekends. Note that Vaccinations are required for entry (12+).


Mississauga Light Up the Square

  • Where: Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Dr, Mississauga
  • Cost: Free

Celebration Square is a great place to relax year-round, but the Tree Lighting Ceremony is always top-notch! There is a large (and free!) outdoor skating rink, so make sure to bring your skates. There will also be live entertainment and food vendors available for a festive evening out with the family. Our tip for parking? Park across the street at Square One and walk over with your family.


Oakville Tree Lighting

  • Where: Westwood Park, 173 Kerr Street, Oakville
  • Cost: Free – But Tickets Must be Booked in Advance (Book Now)

Yearly Kerr Village hosts their Holiday Fest which includes entertainment, a Christmas Market, and lighting their Christmas Tree. Bring the family for Holiday cheer. Important to note while attendance is free tickets are mandatory in advance to control crowds. Masks will be required at this event.


Burlington – Santas Magical Holiday Trail

  • Cost: Free!

Burlington will not be having a regular Santa Clause Parade this year. Instead, they will have Santa Clause out on the streets in an antique fire truck for the first weekend of December. Kids can take a peek at Santa as he cruises through the neighborhood but note he will not be stopping for photos or gifts.


Burlington Festival of Lights

  • Where: Spencer Smith Park in Burlington (1400 Lakeshore Rd)
  • Cost: Free!

Want some Holiday fun but not available for the individual weekend events? Avoid the crowds and head to the Burlington Festival of Lights. As a yearly attraction beautiful lights are set up in Spencer Smith Park down by the lake, free for everyone to enjoy. Available the entire month of December there’s plenty of time to take the family for a crisp winter walk through the lights.


Winter Wonders at the Royal Botanical Gardens

  • Where: Hendrie Park, 680 Plains Road West Burlington
  • Cost: $19.50 for Adults, $11.50 for Children 4-12, Children under 4 are Free (Family Packs available)

Another yearly event, the Royal Botanical Gardens really put their all into their Winter Wonders light show. Hendrie Park is a beautiful destination year-round, and especially during the holiday season. If your family enjoyed the Festival of Lights in Burlington and are looking for something a little more, this is your best bet! Note that masks and vaccinations (12+) are required for this event.
