Valentines Activities for Kids

Valentines Activities

It’s unfortunately looking like Oakville will remain on lockdown for Valentines day and Family day. Today we at Kinder Buddies Oakville have some great activities to do with your kids for Valentines day.

Create Chocolate Dipped Treats

The best part of Valentines day is all chocolate. You can get fun coloured chocolate melts at Bulk Barn or Michaels. It is possible to melt bakers chocolate, chocolate chips, or plain old chocolate bars but make sure to chop finely so they can easily melt.

Melting Chocolate

Fill a saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Place a metal bowl over the boiling water and fill with the chocolate melts. Fold chocolate with a spatula until it’s all melted. Take the melted chocolate from the boiling water for dipping.

Dipped Treats

There are lots of things you can dip into melted chocolate! It’s also for kids to add sprinkles afterwards.

  • Cookies (Chocolate Chip/Wafer/Shortbread)
  • Pretzels
  • Fruit

Valentines Cards for Friends and Family

While we can no longer give cards in person it’s still a great opportunity to send a card to friends and family through the mail. We’ve created a list of fun craft ideas for unique valentines cards!

Say Thank You

Make a point to add to the card something your child is thankful for from that person. Valentines day is a great opportunity to show love to one another, and another option to practice gratitude.

Practice Some Self Love

For some dinner table talk consider having everyone in the family point out three things they love about themselves. Lead the way as parents by going first with things you love about yourself and why.

Examples:

  • I love my long arms because they give great hugs
  • I love that I can cook for my family so they can have nutritious meals
  • I love that I enjoy reading so I can always continue to learn

Take the conversation a step further and have everyone say something they love about everyone else in the family!
